This weekend marks the start of two of the UK’s biggest, interactive food festivals: the Scottish Food and Drink Fortnight and Liverpool Food and Drink Festival 2012.
Scottish Food and Drink Fortnight, held between 1st – 16th September 2012, aims to celebrate the best of Scotland’s produce and has over 200 different events. Independent retailers, farmers’ markets, attractions and restaurants will hold activities, tastings and special menus created especially for the fortnight. The events are being held all over Scotland and are definitely worth a visit.
Liverpool Food and Drink Festival is held between 1st – 8th September 2012. The opening weekend at Sefton Park features cookery demonstrations, markets, masterclasses and talks by many famous chefs and businesses. The following week will see the bars and restaurants of Liverpool offering special menus and deals.
Are you a food business based in Scotland or Liverpool? If you are, make the most of the next few days and ensure your café, bar or restaurant is joining in the food fun. Whether you’ll be based on-site or are simply in the local area, you too can take part in the festivities. Now is the time to come up with a special menu, try out some local produce and celebrate the food you serve.
Part of your preparation should also be ensuring that you are fully up to date with your food safety training. By law, food businesses are required to update their food safety training every 3 years.
With the festivals beginning tomorrow, why not consider doing your training online? We offer easy-access, fully-certified, online training courses in food hygiene. On completion you’ll receive a certificate in the post the next working day that you can display in your workplace for your happy customers to see.
