The ‘Scores on the Doors’ food hygiene rating scheme has now become the largest in the world, and the introduction of downloadable Apps for the iPhone and Android have now made it even more user-friendly.
Free to download, the Apps make the official local authority hygiene ratings for over 155,000 food businesses in England, Wales and Northern Ireland easily accessible for anyone with iPhone or Android handsets.
The Apps can also search for food businesses based on the handset’s current location, and refine results based on distance, food type and how many ‘stars’ it has been awarded – the more stars it has, the better its food hygiene rating.
Instant Ratings, Instant Decisions
iPhone users with a 3GS handset and above even benefit from the ‘Radar’ feature, where the handset can be pointed at a food business participating in the ‘Scores on the Doors’ rating scheme to instantly find out its number of stars.
Users can mark their tried and tested eateries as ‘favourites’, and if they want to try a new place, Google maps have been handily incorporated into the App to help direct them there.
Those without an iPhone or Android handset can still find out the Scores on the Doors whilst they’re out and about, as the service also offers rating information via SMS and WAP. More details can be found at www.scoresonthedoors.org.uk.
